More than a chat window

Secrets AI calls itself the number one AI girlfriend site, and the homepage leads with something I didn’t expect from a chat app: video. The top banner is Reels, tagged NEW, with the line ‘Watch her story. Then you decide what happens.’ Every reel ends with the character waiting for your reply, which is a clever way to drop you straight into a conversation. Under that sits Shorts, billed as bingeable mini-dramas with new episodes daily.

The companions

Scroll a little further and you reach Featured Companions, with quick filters for Female, Realistic and Popular plus a View All link. These are the characters you’ll actually chat with, all fictional adults. The marketing promises a personalised experience, emotional connection, 24/7 availability and conversations that adapt to your preferences over time. The core idea is a companion that remembers what you like and replies instantly, with romance and flirting as the main mode and spicier talk there if you want it.

I’ll be honest about the copy, though. The long block lower on the page (‘Ditch boring girls in real life’, ‘Sick of boring girls not texting back?’) reads like it was written for search engines, not people. It tells you very little about features, pricing or limits. The FAQ at the bottom is more useful.

Design

It’s a slick dark-navy theme with purple buttons, rounded cards and Montserrat type. The reel carousel uses tilted portrait tiles that look good even blurred, and the header keeps things simple with just Log In and Join Free. Some Shorts tiles were still empty grey placeholders when my screenshot was taken, which points to lazy loading. It’s responsive and clearly built with phones in mind.

Speed

Decent. The page is long and image-heavy, well over a hundred images, so the lower sections fill in as you scroll. The top appears quickly enough and nothing felt stuck.

Price and ads

You can join free, but the page mentions monthly subscriptions and a pricing page, so the full experience is paid. No figures were visible on the homepage; check the pricing page before you start. The bigger issue: my scan picked up ad code from TrafficJunky and CrakRevenue, plus popunder-style scripts. No popup fired on load for me, but on a paid companion app that’s an odd mix, and it cost the site points. The site also claims end-to-end encryption for chats. I can’t verify that, so I wouldn’t type anything you’d hate to see leaked.

My take

Secrets AI has a genuinely fresh hook with its interactive reels, and the companion cards look polished. If you want an AI girlfriend experience with a bit of story attached, it’s worth a free signup. Just keep an eye on those ad scripts and read the pricing carefully.
