CHYOA Review

Erotica with forks in the road

The name stands for Choose Your Own Adventure, and that’s exactly how it works. Each chapter ends with choices, each choice leads to another chapter, and if the branch you want doesn’t exist yet, you can write it. The headline on the homepage sums it up nicely: Interactive Erotica, Written Together. Right under it, two numbers tell you how far that idea has gone: 29,214 stories and 1,273,595 chapters. That chapter count is the giveaway. Some of these stories are less a book and more a sprawling tree.

Picking a story

The homepage is built for discovery. There’s a Story of the Week pick, a numbered Trending Stories list, the results of the 2026 Story Contest, and a Recently updated stories feed where each entry shows its genre and how many chapters deep it goes, plus when the latest branch landed (often just minutes ago). One sci-fi fan-fiction spin-off was over 2,100 chapters deep. Three tabs at the top switch between Discover, a personal News Feed and a newer Slow burn sexting format.

Fair warning on themes: the community leans hard into fantasy setups. Mind control, magic, transformation, superhero fan fiction and game-style stories dominate the trending list. If you prefer realistic romance, you’ll need to search a bit. Not everything is in English either; I spotted German and Italian stories in the feed.

The look

This is one of the better-designed story sites I’ve visited. White background, Source Sans Pro, a big confident headline and a clean right-hand column with the CHYOA Guide, the Forum and links to the Discord and socials. The search bar covers stories, chapters and authors, and the little dice icon inside it throws you into a random story, which is a fun touch. A monitor icon in the header toggles the site theme. It’s responsive and reads comfortably on a phone, which matters for a site where you’re tapping choices constantly.

Speed and ads

Pages feel fast and text loads straight away. The ads are where it gets busier. The scan found TrafficJunky code and Stripchat cam embeds, and the large image block at the top of the sidebar is an ad slot. More sneaky: one card in the recent-stories feed is a promo for an AI chat product, styled almost exactly like a real story with an author line. No popunders turned up, but read the author name before you click a card.

Reading versus writing

You can read everything without an account. Signing up lets you add chapters, follow stories and use the news feed, and the Write button sits right in the header. There’s also a Supporters page for people who want to back the site.

Ninja’s last word

Nothing else does branching erotica at this scale. The fantasy-heavy themes won’t suit everyone, and the disguised AI ad is a cheap move, but if you like steering the story yourself, CHYOA is the place.
