The first thing it shows you is you

PrivadoVPN opens with a slightly cheeky trick. A thin bar at the very top displays your location, your IP address, your provider and, in red, Status: Exposed. It’s a sales tactic, sure, but it makes the point better than any paragraph could: every site you visit can see that line too. For anyone browsing adult sites from a shared or work connection, that’s the whole argument for a VPN in one glance.

Free or paid?

This is PrivadoVPN’s best card. It’s one of the few providers that openly offers a free plan next to its premium one. The nav has a Free VPN page, and a whole homepage section compares free and premium options. That makes it easy to test before paying a cent.

The paid side is currently pushed with a Black Friday deal. The headline figure was 1.11 per month, with no currency shown on the banner I saw, and another section mentions saving 90% on two years. As always with these deals, open the Pricing page and check what the plan renews at. A 30-day money-back guarantee backs the premium plans.

What the premium suite includes

PrivadoVPN now sells itself as a full security bundle: VPN encryption with AES-256, a no-log policy, threat protection against phishing and malware, real-time antivirus called Privado Sentry, parental controls, an ad and tracker blocker, Control Tower Smart DNS and an Email Relay for disposable addresses. Power users will like the SOCKS5 proxy support and the kill switch. The hero promises unlimited data and unlimited devices.

One thing I’d like cleared up: the hero says 233 global server locations, while a section further down says servers in 66 cities. Both can be true in a technical sense, but it’s confusing. If a specific country matters to you, check the Servers page. It only takes a minute and saves a refund request later. Apps are listed for the usual desktop and mobile platforms under the Software menu, so setup on a phone and a laptop should be quick.

Design, speed and annoyances

It’s a dark charcoal site with orange buttons and a big glowing price card. Looks sharp. The menu is clean (Pricing, Features, Software, Support, Blog, Login) and the site comes in 16 languages. Two niggles: a big cookie banner covers the bottom of the screen until you click Got It!, and the page was slow to finish loading on my visit. No third-party ads, and the only outside service my scan saw was the cookie consent tool.

Who should try it

If you’ve never paid for a VPN and want to test the idea first, PrivadoVPN’s free plan is the obvious place to start. The premium bundle is cheap during promotions and packs a lot in. Just double-check the server list and renewal pricing before you commit.
