A generator built around a form, not a prompt

Most AI story tools hand you an empty box and wish you luck. Smitten takes a different route, and I liked it straight away. The homepage is the generator: a frosted card on a purple-to-hot-pink gradient with four fields. You enter Character 1 and Character 2 (name and gender), describe the scene and setting, then describe what you want to happen. Below that you choose your POV, either first person (you writing to the other character) or third person, tick the 18+ box and hit Generate Story.

That structure helps. You don’t need to know how to “prompt” anything, and the little info icons next to each field explain what to write. A note under the button told me I had 2 free stories remaining today, no account needed.

The angle: stories for two

Smitten pitches itself at couples as much as solo readers. The footer line talks about stories to enjoy solo or share “with someone special”, and the three feature blocks are Define Characters, Set the Scene and Share & Publish, which lets you save a story, send it privately or publish it to the Discover Stories feed. The footer also lists themed generators (fantasy, BDSM, lesbian, gay, enemies-to-lovers and more) if you want a head start on a genre.

Free vs. Plus

The free tier is two stories per day. The white Get Unlimited button in the header leads to the paid plan, which adds unlimited stories, longer content, chatting with your characters and more languages. A black banner across the top announces the newest perk: audio narrations with Smitten Plus. I saw monthly pricing wording but no number I’d repeat, so check the upgrade page for today’s price.

Design, speed and phone use

It’s bright, bold and a bit loud, with a chunky white logo in Passion One and rounded Sen text everywhere else. The form is the clear focus, which is good. Load time was on the slow side for me, and the spot under the logo briefly showed a “Loading…generated” placeholder before the page settled. On a phone the single-column form should be comfortable, since the site is set up to be responsive. The interface comes in eleven languages, several of them marked beta.

Ads and privacy

No ads, no popups. The outside scripts are payment and affiliate tools plus analytics. The FAQ covers privacy, sharing rights and how Smitten compares with ChatGPT, Wattpad, AO3 and Literotica, and the footer says it’s made in NYC. As a ninja who prefers to leave no trace, I appreciated being able to try it without handing over an email.

Verdict

Smitten is about the easiest AI story tool I’ve come across for beginners and couples. The free allowance is small, but the guided form gets you a usable story with no learning curve at all.
