Why a porn directory reviews VPNs at all
Plenty of people who browse adult sites would rather their internet provider, their office Wi-Fi or a hotel network didn’t see where they go. That’s the job of a VPN, and ExpressVPN is one of the names everyone has heard of. I went through the site the way a buyer would: what’s promised, what it costs, and whether anything feels off.
The homepage pitch
The page is calm and polished: off-white background, dark navy serif headline, teal buttons. Right now it’s all about the sale. A black bar across the top shouts Save 80% this Black Friday, and the hero reads World’s #1 VPN now up to 80% off with a single Get the Deal Now button. Under it are app store ratings (420K+ on Apple, 496K+ reviews on Google Play) and a CNET badge. In fairness, a small line right below admits that ExpressVPN pays review sites through an affiliate program. I appreciate that it’s said out loud.
A Need help? Chat with us! bubble sits in the bottom corner, showing as online, and that matches the promise of 24-hour live chat support.
What you actually get
The core numbers: servers in 113 countries, use on up to 14 devices (the fine print points to device details), a no-activity-logs policy and what it calls TrustedServer technology. The feature menu goes deeper than most: its own Lightway protocol, an internet kill switch, split tunneling, private encrypted DNS, a Threat Manager, an ad blocker, parental controls and an optional dedicated IP.
Platform coverage is excellent. There are apps for Windows, macOS, Linux, iPhone and iPad, Android, Apple TV, Fire Stick and Android TV, plus browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox and Edge, router support and its own Aircove routers. The subscription now bundles extras too: ExpressKeys (a password manager), ExpressMailGuard, an identity protection service for US users and something called ExpressAI. There’s even a Teams plan for up to 500 users.
Price and the guarantee
The homepage talks about discounts but doesn’t print an actual monthly price, so you’ll need to open the Pricing page to see current plans. Look at what the plan renews at after the first term, not just the headline discount. The safety net is a 30-day money-back guarantee for first-time users, which gives you time to test speeds with the sites you actually use.
Speed and site experience
The website itself loaded smoothly and felt responsive on both desktop and mobile. Actual VPN speed depends on your connection and server choice, but the brand’s whole identity is built on being quick, and the homepage pushes Lightway as the reason why. There are no third-party ads on the site; my scan only saw Google’s tag manager and fonts.
Should you get it?
ExpressVPN is a safe, polished choice if you want something that just works on every device you own and comes with real human support. It isn’t the cheapest VPN around, and the Black Friday banners are loud, but the feature list is deep and the refund window takes the risk out of trying it.
