An old board that never went quiet

Phun.org calls itself “the best board on the net”, and whatever you think of that, it’s certainly one of the busiest old-timers still standing. It runs on classic forum software with a blue-and-white theme that looks like it was set up years ago and left alone. The first thing you notice is not a picture but a stack of admin notices: change your password because “there are hackers about”, don’t use a certain image host in GIF threads, and a warning that one image host was serving a nasty redirect. Odd welcome, but it shows the staff are paying attention.

How the forum is laid out

The index is split into big sections, each with sub-forums and live counters:

• Home Section: The Lounge (over 22,900 discussions and 1.68 million messages), Funny Videos, a Creative Backyard for self-made GIFs, and a Hall of Fame that runs a yearly “Phun Hot 100” vote.
• Model Section: the Model Forum alone has more than 153,000 threads, mostly glamour and erotic photo sets, plus an Amateur Model Forum.
• Celebrity Section: the biggest of all, with Celebrity Photos at over 366,000 threads and 2 million messages. Much of it is red-carpet and event photography. There are also film-scene threads, a softcore section and a forum for social media personalities.
• Sexy Video Section: Pro, Pro HD, VR and Amateur video forums.

The latest-post timestamps read “14 minutes ago”, “20 minutes ago”, “today”. This place is very much alive, with a long list of members and five staff online when I looked.

The file-host catch

Many video threads don’t play on the forum itself. They link out to third-party file hosts such as K2S and Rapidgator, which throttle free downloads and push paid premium accounts. A good chunk of the posted material is also clearly reposted from commercial sources, so its copyright status is shaky. The staff keep an “approved image hosts and file hosts” list, updated this month. Stick to it, and never install anything a download page asks you to.

Using it day to day

There’s a search box top right, plus Search Forums and Recent Posts links, and the notices point out that thread prefixes work as a quick filter. Handy once you know about them. You can browse as a guest, but you’ll need a free account to post, get alerts and see some content. The design is dated, the text is small and the header banner eats a lot of space. It has a mobile viewport, but on a phone this is a pinch-and-zoom experience.

Speed is decent. Pages are mostly text, so they open without much delay.

Ads

Refreshingly few. No popups and no banner walls when I visited. The one exception is a Create AI Porn link sitting in the main menu next to Members, which is plainly an advertiser rather than a forum feature.

Ninja’s verdict

Phun is a massive, genuinely active community with decades of posts and staff who keep things in order. It’s ugly, it leans on file hosts, and some of what’s posted lives in a legal grey zone. If you like old-fashioned forums and digging through threads, you’ll lose whole evenings here.
