The name game
SteamUnlocked built its reputation on steamunlocked.net, where it handed out pre-installed PC games for years. This site lives on the .org, uses the same red-and-white SteamUnlocked logo, and says in its footer that steamunlocked.org is “our only official site”. Those claims are easy to write and impossible to check from the outside, so I’m treating this as a separate site using the SteamUnlocked brand, not the original one. What it actually serves is what I looked at.
The look: a proper storefront
It doesn’t look like a cheap clone. A collage of game covers (Resident Evil 4, Elden Ring, Red Dead Redemption, Silent Hill) fills the header, with a bold red menu bar on top of it: Home, Browse, Categories, My Library, News, Requests, FAQ and Launcher. The headline reads “FREE STEAM GAMES PRE-INSTALLED FOR PC”, and two buttons sit under it: a red Browse and a green GET THE LAUNCHER. A wide search bar promises 26,020+ games, and below that come Recently Added and Recently Updated tabs, cover tiles, and a Hide NSFW switch.
What it provides
The idea is the old SteamUnlocked one: games that are already installed and cracked, packed into a single download, so you unpack and play with no Steam needed. The catalogue is big and current. On my visit the Popular row had Borderlands 4, Atomfall with all DLC and Onimusha: Way of the Sword, next to small indie titles. The category grid shows real counts: Indie 16,079, Action 4,287, Adventure 4,145, Strategy 3,753, Horror 2,160, and an Adult 18+ section with 1,998 games, which the NSFW switch hides. Handy extras include an “Under 1 GB” hub for quick downloads, curated Collections and a Requests page.
Ads, safety and that launcher
The pages themselves are surprisingly clean. I found no ad networks and no popup code on the homepage, only Google Analytics and Cloudflare. The thing I’d skip is the launcher. A free warez site asking you to install its own desktop program is a big ask when you can’t verify who runs it, and the website works fine without it.
The usual rules for pre-installed games apply even more here: scan every archive before you run it, never turn off your antivirus because a readme tells you to, and think twice before running cracked games on the PC you bank on.
Verdict
As a site it’s fast, well organised and fresher than you’d expect, with a huge library that’s easy to browse. As a brand it’s the .org version of SteamUnlocked, and its “only official site” line is a claim rather than a fact. Browse it in the browser, ignore the launcher, and scan what you download.
